Our partnership with Raintown Film Festival has grown from strength to strength, as we strive to create a unique look for each edition while retaining the charm of Taiping, the rain town.

For the second year, the film festival is anchored by the heavyweight film "Rock" by Mamat Khalid, celebrating its 20th anniversary. The festival trailer intercuts between the scenes from "Rock" and other films vibing to the rhythm of the rock anthem! Living up to its name, the rain did not let up during the festival as well. As we continue to document the festival, we will have amassed an amazing amount of rainy footage of Taiping, transforming through the years.

The concept for the trailer was to capture the essence of Taiping by revisiting and recreating scenes from films shot in the town. This approach not only paid homage to the filmmakers who have previously captured Taiping’s charm but also offered a fresh perspective on the town’s subtle yet significant evolution over the years. During the production process, the team also documented several of Taiping's historic cinemas, now standing abandoned, adding a layer of nostalgia and reflection to the project.

This trailer has become more than just a promotional piece; it is a love letter to the town of Taiping and the filmmakers who have brought its stories to life. The collaboration was driven by a shared passion for showcasing Taiping’s unique charm and history, reminding everyone involved of the enduring power of storytelling and the importance of preserving local heritage.

As the Raintown Film Festival approaches, there is great anticipation for the community and visitors to experience the magic of Taiping on the big screen. The festival is set to be a celebration not just of film, but of the incredible stories that continue to be inspired by this storied town.
