CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - RSFC 2026
WINNERS OF THE FIRST RAINTOWN SHORT FILM COMPETITION
We are proud to co-organise the Raintown Short Film Competition 2026, running alongside the 3rd Raintown Film Festival this September. Open to all Malaysian filmmakers and creators — emerging voices and seasoned storytellers alike — the competition invites you to make a short film in response to the theme: After The Rain.
What comes after? Stillness. Renewal. Petrichor. The smell of wet earth and something left unsaid. We want to see what that means to you.
Twenty shortlisted films will screen on the big screen in Taiping, competing across 8 award categories. The Best Short Film takes home RM8,000, with additional awards sponsored by CK Music, GoPro, Logitech, N4 Camera Store, Ulanzi, Lumos, and other supporting partners.
Pick up your camera. Make something meaningful. And come find us in Raintown.

Online Workshops for Participants
Great filmmaking doesn't begin on set — it begins with understanding. Alongside the competitions and festivals, we have also moderated online film talks designed to equip participants with the knowledge and confidence to tell their stories well. Sessions have included Silence on 'Set! Sound! Speed! Action!' by Mike Mayuni, an exploration of the craft of location sound recording, and 'What is a Short Film?' by James Lee, an invitation to think seriously about the form before filming. Intimate, accessible, and led by practitioners who know the work from the inside, these talks exist to close the gap between aspiration and execution.
